About the Speaker

The director of the Digital Studies Center at Rutgers University-Camden, Jim Brown teaches courses in Literature and Videogames, Digital Rhetoric, Electronic Literature, and Introduction to Digital Humanities.  His forthcoming book, Ethical Programs, examines how networked software environments shape and constrain writing, rhetoric, and politics. It looks closely at a number of examples, from a hack of the Twitter platform to the 2008 Obama campaign’s use of social networking technology, to examine how users and designers negotiate rhetorical and ethical problems.
